Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District

5-2-1-0=8 is an obesity prevention initiative designed to communicate basic healthy habit principles using a very simple acronym. We partner with schools, childcare and out of school programs, healthcare practices, worksites and community organizations to change environments where people live, learn work and play. Implementation can be accomplished using a tiered approach which can be as simple as putting up posters or promoting on websites (basic), hosting educational classes (intermediate) to self-sustainment activities such as incorporating into existing curriculum, worksite wellness initiative or establishing an obesity prevention clinic. The healthy habit guidelines are as follows:
5 – fruits and veggies
2 – hours or less of recreational screen time*
1 – hour or more of physical activity
0 – sugary drinks, more water
8 – or more hours of sleep
